Brief History of the Study Program
The Mechatronics Engineering Study Program—formerly called the Electro‐Mechatronics Engineering Program—was established on March 31, 2015, by the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Decree No. 122/M/Kp/III/2015 after a lengthy preparation process. The Feasibility Study Team for the establishment of the Mechatronics Engineering Study Program was formed in 2012. This team was chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology at that time, Dr. Paulus Sukapto, Ir., MBA, with members Dr. Bagus Arthaya, Ir., M.Eng.; Ali Sadiyoko, S.T., M.T.; Romy Loice, S.T., M.T.; Elisati Hulu, S.T., M.T.; Herry Santoso, S.T., MTM, Ph.D.; and Benny Purnawan, S.T., M.T.
The establishment of the Mechatronics Engineering Study Program was driven by the belief that engineering education is one of the key programs that must be developed in Indonesia to support national development. Mechatronics Engineering, as a field of study, faces the challenge of continually making significant contributions to solving existing problems and anticipating new ones—particularly those related to mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and informatics.
